I was browsing the internet for record labels and came across the website for Tweefort Records. This release grabbed my attention purely by the cover and album title. This is some nice lo-fi bedroom recordings which consist of electric guitar, a cheap sounding keyboard, and mid-80's drum machine. The vocals annoy the hell out of my wife and there are some "jingly" guitar parts that remind me of the guitar work on the Residents' Commercial Album. Women's Basketball is a project of Tyler Trudeau, whom I have never heard of, but since I enjoy this album so much I'll keep an eye and ear open. As I write this, the album is available for free download from Tweefort Records . I am not sure if there are plans for a psychical release, but one would be nice to start my new collection.

Download An Octopus, But Like, An Octopus With Massive Wings And Junk.

Visit the Tweefort Records page for An Octopus, But Like, An Octopus With Massive Wings And Junk.

Montréal's Pradada release single on BEKO DSL.

A few days ago I came across a net-label called BEKO Digital Single Label. Each Monday this French label releases a new single to download, free of cost. What I liked about this net-label, besides the weekly free singles, where the very attractive, yet simple "cover" designs for each release. According to the amount of singles, it looks like they have been doing this for about 6 months now.

This Monday's release is a two track recording from Pradada of Montréal, Canada. The first thing that came to mind after hearing these tracks, is that these guys must be fans of Suicide. Repetitive drums and synths with various "hoots-n-howlers" with echo effects ala "Frankie Teardrop". It is rather hard to believe that these are new recordings, they seem like they where plucked from some old early 80's underground tape compilations. This is good since I was listening to one of the old Rising From The Red Sand tape compilations a few months ago and wishing that their where artist today recording simple primitive recordings like you would find on those beloved old tapes. Now I see that there are. This is not a bad recording, but it is to similar to my old genre..... the hunt continues.

An intro of sorts.

For the past 25 years or so I have listened to nothing but industrial / EBM music. I have always been rather close minded to other forms of music. I might buy a CD that would not fit into my mold on few occasion, but after a few days I would regret being so foolish with my music purchase, causing me to "cleanse" my collection and sell the forbidden disc. With age, I now realize that I might have missed some fine music. I already have slowly began to purge myself of, what folks might call, "industrial" music and started the quest to find a new genre to call my own. On this blog I will document my search for new aural enjoyment. Come and join me on my adventures in "new" music.
